Some days I think about dying
like some people think about their grocery list.
What should we pick up?
Eggs, bread, a pill bottle, this knife?
What are we out of?
Cheese, butter, apples, numbness.
Who knew you had to refill the empty
inside you because feeling Something
takes up more space –
enough to tear the seams
right out of your skin.
Make a list of what’s missing.
It will be on the fridge come morning.
