“You are your own work of art”

This chapbook is small in size but deep in content. In the midst of possible hallucinations, the weights of depression and insecurity reveal a sad yearning for happiness – yet one also hears adoration, and witnesses the enamor and vulnerability of being in love, including the thrill and the terror. Despite the limitations, moments of insight and encouragement compliment a strong sense of gratitude. The confessional style strikes as moving and compelling, given the self confessed alexithymia at times – the inability to express emotions. It also evokes curiosity about the poet himself – his age, illness, vocation, and lifestyle – as well as the intricacies of communication and support in the context of significant mental illness.
